This investment is likely to bring jobs and international attention to the Dayton region.

The Mathile family is backing a new technology venture, Krush Technologies.

Krush, with multiple locations across the globe, launched with a provisional headquarters location at the University of Dayton’s River Campus.

The venture will include - and build on - successful Mathile investments in the tech space, most notably ooVoo, touted as the world’s largest independent video chat app, as well as other related technologies. For example, ooVoo has 150 million registered users around the world and consistently ranks in the Top 10 social and Top 100 overall apps on the App Store and Google Play. Also, ooVoo is a winner of the 2016 CES Innovation Award.

While many of the details have yet to be released, the new company is likely to build jobs in the Dayton region along with bringing an international spotlight.

The undisclosed investment is expected to be a substantial expansion of the Mathile’s commitment to advanced video and media ventures. It aligns with founder Clay Mathile’s vision for ooVoo, to bring people closer together through innovation and technology.

“By mashing up traditional and emerging technologies and culture in new and astounding ways, we build irresistible products that engage and connect,” according to the Krush Web site.

In addition to ooVoo, Krush products include Flinch and Intelligent Video, among others. Krush describes Flinch as the first-ever social gaming app of its kind, leveraging ooVoo's Intelligent Video technology to determine the winner of a new-age staring contest, automatically. Flinch surged to a Top 15 app in multiple countries around the world last year, including in the U.S.

“This is more exciting news for the Dayton region and further evidence that we are on the right path,” said Jeff Hoagland, president and CEO of the Dayton Development Coalition. “This is another great example of the Mathile family’s enormous impact on our region; we are so lucky to have them. The coalition will continue to do everything we can to support this new venture and others like it.”

JP Nauseef will serve as chairman of Krush.

“The Mathiles have been steadfast, patient and principled investors with a track record of success that speaks for itself,” Nauseef said. “We are fortunate to have their continued commitment and look forward to building on that success.”

UD’s River Campus also is home to Midmark and the University of Dayton Research Institute.
