Ben Stiller is partnering with Maker Studios for comedy web series Next Time on Lonny.
Stiller’s Red Hour Digital, a subsidiary of Red Hour Films, will produce the new installments of the popular series, which will be distributed by Maker and launch in early 2014.
Next Time on Lonny is a sketch/parody series that is centered on “next time” segments, previews for an upcoming episode which never happen.
With the new pact, Maker will help promote and distribute the six-episode first season of Next Time on Lonny — which has more than 1 million views — beginning in January in an effort to broaden exposure. The success of the first season caught the eye of Stiller’s Red Hour and Maker Studios.
The first season was independently produced by creators Alex Anfanger and Dan Schimpf.
“Red Hour has established itself as a powerhouse in the digital space by leveraging what they do best — making fantastic content, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with them,” said Andy Vick, vp comedy at Maker Studios. “We are huge fans of Alex and Dan and can’t wait to show the world season two of Lonny; it’s a natural fit for Maker as the show embraces an over-the-top humor that fans can’t get enough of.”
Added Stiller: “Dan and Alex are the life blood of a new generation of comedy. Red Hour’s policy is to feed off of that blood in the time-honored vampiric tradition of show business.”
