Reach Of TV Streaming Jumps 40%, Still Pales Relative To DVRs

While using online streaming to watch television and movies is growing fast, it is still tiny relative to other forms of time-shifted TV platforms -- especially the DVR, finds the Media Behavior Institute in the latest release of data from its USA TouchPoints research of actual consumer behavior with media.

Watching streaming TV episodes currently reaches 8% of the adult U.S. population, up more than 40% from MBI’s last data release in February. By comparison, watching TV programming on a DVR currently reaches 40% of the adult population weekly, while TV video-on-demand platforms currently reach only 13%.
