CBS Interactive CEO Jim Lanzone on Tuesday announced a slew of promotions in an internal memo obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. The moves, he said, are “geared toward fine-tuning our organizational structure for the opportunities ahead.”
Christy Tanner has been promoted to executive vp and GM of CBS News Digital, a role that will put her in more frequent contact with CBS News president David Rhodes.
The move solidifies “our tremendous partnership with the News division as digital becomes a bigger part of what CBS is doing in news overall,” Lanzone said in the memo. Senior executive producer Nancy Lane previously reported to Rhodes, but now will report to Tanner.
Among the other changes: Rob Gelick has been promoted to executive vp and GM of CBS Entertainment Digital; Jeff Gerttula has been promoted to executive vp and GM of CBS Sports Digital; and Mark Larkin will serve as executive vp and GM of CNET Media Group.
Lanzone said the changes won’t have a major impact on the employees not mentioned in the memo. “Keep on doing what you’re doing,” the exec said. “We’re crushing it.”
