Netflix has decided not to produce a second season of the BuzzFeed show Follow This, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The docuseries debuted on the streamer in August and ran for 20 episodes, taking viewers behind the scenes at the millennial-focused media company and exploring topics like the men’s rights movement, tech addiction and superbugs.
A BuzzFeed spokesperson said the company is pleased with how the show (an “experiment”) was received, along with the storytelling and news value the episodes generated. (A Netflix spokesperson declined comment.)
The company, which is producing more show concepts for Netflix and other platforms, is meanwhile cheering the renewal of the morning show AM to DM for a second season on Twitter.
The series, which is profitable, launched in September 2017 and streams live daily on Twitter at 10 a.m. on the East Coast.
“We’re thrilled that AM to DM will continue to grow in 2019 as both a trusted news source for Twitter users and a reliable and compelling way for advertisers to connect with what’s happening,” said Nick Sallon, head of U.S. news partnerships at Twitter.
Twitter pays for production of the show and splits advertising revenue with BuzzFeed, which claims that an average of 400,000 people watch each episode.
While it’s not uncommon for shows to not last a second season, Netflix renewed the Vox Media show Explained, which beat BuzzFeed’s show to market, for another season in November.
