NEW YORK – Want some news or entertainment with your coffee?
Starbucks is giving away free premium content from the likes of News Corp.’s Wall Street Journal, Viacom’s Nickelodeon, Apple’s iTunes and others to customers connected to its in-store Wi-Fi network, MSNBC reported.
Four months ago, the coffee store operator made its Wi-Fi available for free, and now it is offering content via the new Starbucks Digital Network, built in partnership with Yahoo.
Nickelodeon is offering Nick Jr. Boost, a service, which outside of Starbucks costs about $80 per year and streams full-length episodes of Dora the Explorer, Ni Hao Kai-Lan and other shows. Meanwhile, iTunes offers its “Pick of the Week” downloads along with free featured music and videos.
